I've Started my Christmas Cards! With Whimsical Wednesday Challenges

It's Wednesday, Hump Day, and the Day before Independence Day here in the USA.  It's also the perfect day to start Christmas cards.  Whimsical Designs is hosting a Christmas in July challenge the next 2 weeks, so join us, getting a jump start on your own holiday cards.

This week's challenge is sponsored by The Robin's Nest.

The prize is a great one -- a Christmas themed scrapbooking package!

I often make 2 cards at the same time, figuring it's just as easy to make one as two.  That's what I did here.

I used some Studio Calico Mister Huey inks on the white cardstock bases before I started building my trees.  After it dried (I speeded the process up a bit with a heat gun), I began making the tree, beginning with the trunk and going upwards.  I used a variety of washi tape from My Mind's Eye, Doodle Bug Designs, and Target. The sentiment is from the Whimsical Designs Snow Much Fun set, found in the Whimsical Design store.

I stamped the sentiment on a tag, cut out with a Spellbinder die, using my Grand Calibur machine.  On the second card, I heat embossed the "trim the tree"sentiment.  The first card is stamped with Close To My Heart red ink. Don't you love the fonts of this set And they stamp so cleanly. Yum!

I topped off the tree with a star.  After all, a Christmas tree has to have a star on top! These chipboard stars are from UmWow Studios. I covered one with green pearl paint, and one with Christmas Red Stickles.  A tiny bow of baker's twine ribbon finishes off each card.

There's more wonderful projects on the Whimsical Design blog today. This design team rocks their projects week after week.  Go check them out! Then, make your own Christmas card (or two) and link them up, too!
